Hello everyone..  Sorry I've been so silent.   Covid hit me hard.  Not passed the "whinge Phase"

so thought it best to pull the doona over the world,  Plus,  I'm off meds till I feel better.

I worry about all of you in the awful heat, storms, and fires.   Meggle..  I hear you morphed into

@Oaktree .. Hope you are well friend.  when I got really sick,  you asked me for a poem.

You  know me too well friend.  I sat up in bed,  under the shade of your tree, and thought,

I better make an effort.  Made a map of where I think you all live  and the weather mans words

are not often welcome lately.

I'm not much at bush poetry,  but .. hey its valentines, and I want my sweetheart,                                " the bookkeeper",     wading

my shore's, and no one else's.   so

                                                         WATER FLOWING.

The night they crossed the Rio Grande

                               and  closed a sunset red.

                     Through veil of night

                                 and cold winds bite

                                        into the vast they fled.

                      Stolen horse  down water coarse

                            defiled that river blue.

Colt in hand n  stolen grand

                             till  death  the law pursue

A stallion splash of race bred steel

that cuts a stone pond still

Lovers pleas   they failed to heed

they ride for pride and thrill

The night they crossed the river deep

                           beneath a starlit  sky

The night that parted lovers weep

                             till  river  beds  run  dry.

All the treasures wild men seek

                             Sweet  bosoms loving charms.

But men they'd rather  ride  n  raid

                               and answer calls to arms.

The night he rode the Rio Grande

                              cross crimson river bled.

                       His ride returned

                              and  fate she learned

                                     in cold n lonely  bed.

The devil's dust  across the rust

                            and sun scar scorching plain.

The posse's  of the ghosts that lust

to brand us with their pain.

So  ride till you can ride no more

and ride back to her door.

                     But maidens  scorned

                           once hearts   de- thorned

Will  wade  a new found  shore.

Tell me was the path you chose

                                  the  one  she'd  suffer  least.

                     Forget to water wilted rose

You'll drink the wells  that you impose

and wake  a  baron  beast..          tonys.  mb 1      14.2.24.
