Re: not coping

Oh dear @outlander ,

Doesn't sound too good. We are sitting with you.

I'm sorry you've had to go back to hospital. I hope things get better for you.

Please know you are not alone.

Hugs.

Re: not coping

Oh gosh @outlander I am really sorry to hear that 😞.  Hopefully this time the treatment works.

Still really hot here too. Got up to 35C earlier, and it's still 25C at 9.30pm. Taking ages to cool down. Tomorrow's predicted top is 25C, so that's good. I really miss my AC. Had my fans going all day, but pretty ineffective in the heat we've had today.

Sitting with you

Re: not coping

Good night @outlander

Hope you have a good night sleep and feel better tomorrow

Re: not coping

thank you @tyme @avant-garde @Emelia8 @Appleblossom Heart its been a long couple of days. i have woken to alot of bruising and swelling in my hands and arms because they missed my veins so much. i had someone with me for a little bit and even they were saying the dr was being way to rough and rushing and not listening. they tried 7 times to get a vein and was on the verge of passing out., i was about ready to leave by then. im glad 2 of the nurses seen what was going on and also come over to advocate for me and asked for another doctor for me and gave me some water, fixed my chair and gave me some ice packs to prevent more vomiting and fainting.

on another note, i had a phone call meeting this morning to get some help with my ndis application and have met their intake criteria. i have a meeting in person with them next week to start the process of them going over paperwork etc to see where needs improvement and whats actually needed so im going in more circles.
@Snowie @Sans911

Re: not coping

I am really glad at least some nurses stood up for you @outlander

The reality is we are often vulnerable in many ways and at the mercy of the medical profession.

Rest up and I hope you heal even though you dealt with some bungling.

Good luck with NDIS. It can be convoluted and bureaucratic but I hope it is ultimately worth it.

Re: not coping

yes i was pretty lucky @Appleblossom
i have very bad veins so its important they listen to me when i say i need ultrasound machine or someone who is guessing.
the second dr was good. he did try and the vein collpased but he was very apologetic and had the ultrasound machine to guide the next one and that was all that was needed.

ndis is hard work. its very finicky in what they want and how they want it worded. they want reports extensive but they dont read them. im finding they want extensive but very easy and straight forward to read. like lists rather then reports

Re: not coping

Tbh I don't think the managers in charge of NDIS know as much as they think they know @outlander

eg one protocol form my OT asked me to complete last week, tended to project a very skewed picture due to the limited nature of the questionnaire. He did not like it either and apologized for the form.

I wonder if Sydney University DR.  Justin Scanlon and his psychosocial researchers and courses in Occupational Therapy, would have an opinion?

I know an OT socially who explained UK training was far broader in its Mental Health approach than Aussie training... But then I heard about Professor Scanlon.

Monash and Melbourne Uni do not have as good OT courses imho. I seriously looked into the curriculums.

Good luck and keep us in the loop about your experience.
