Re: Craft Corner

Those Japanese knit designs are just gorgeous - and so adorable @Former-Member. Thank you for the tag and sharing. I love it when you do as I would of missed it otherwise as I don't have time to read anything on the forums now; - seeing the craft and garden etc posts puts a big smile on my face. I really get a lift from it - thank you.

I can't complain about the lack of time as my life although hectic has never been better. Husband's health has stabilised and is good, daughter has a full time work and is stable and happy and I am doing more of the volunteer work I love; have made more really lovely friends who I now go ten pin bowling with and other social functions along with my long time friends. So life is really good, interesting, fun and full for me currently. Even my friend who we didn't think would make a turnaround (has cancer) has improved and is coming out of hospital (it was touch and go). And I love my stitching craft. I finished a design a while back that I just got framed and will leave a photo of it in a separate post below (will probably be the dreaded triangle for a bit lol)

Look forward to seeing yours and others crafts on here. @CheerBear - your frog was adorable - I loved it.

I think we all deserve a break from feeling low and from the stressors in life and my break and time for some happiness is right now - so I am grabbing it with both arms and am happy. All the more for seeing the beautiful projects on here. Waving to all who pass by sending positive vibes 😊

Re: Craft Corner

Thank you @Bunniekins - always lovely to get a post from you.

I stitched it on hand dyed linen which is very fine and results in very lifelike intricate detail that does give the appearance of a painting (I need to work with a magnifier to see it to achieve those results). I wish you could see all the beads, metallic glitter and bling it gives off - can't pick that up in a photo. It takes awhile to do but worth it for me. I am so passionate about my craft and if I had the time I would be working on them most of the time. Every single single cross stitch/embroidery project gives me so much joy as I am doing it, I can't begin to describe it to you - this angel is one of my favourites. The serene euphoric look on her face blows me away. Love her ❤️

There are a couple of others that I am working on that when finished I will post too. Isnt craft a wonderful relaxing pastime @Bunniekins? It makes me happy to see your projects and what others are doing as well on here - gives me such a lift. Thanks to those that keep this thread going, it really is a happy place to be. What a great uplifting thread!

I glad you liked my artwork and it was nice to read a post from you @Bunniekins xx Hope all is okay in your world 💞🌹

Re: Craft Corner

Re: Craft Corner

I love the community garden one as well @Bunniekins, yes, another wonderful thread where I learn a lot about sharpening up my green thumb too.

So glad to read you are keeping well - I am too at a place where I am doing well and am very happy. Now my daughter has settled and husband's health is better makes this possible - I now have more freedom to do those activities that I have been wanting to do for awhile and I am having a lot of fun 😄💜 xx

Re: Craft Corner

Hello again @Bunniekins. It occured to me a little while ago that I had been remiss in explaining undoing knitting, and for that I am so, so sorry!

I found this video that explains 'tinking' (knit backward = tink), frogging (totally undoing) and picking up stitches. she's very clear and precise with good memory hooks for how to do things too. fixing knitting mistakes

Also, when you know you have a section done correctly, you can put in a 'lifeline' to keep those stitches safe should you make and mistakes that need to be fixed. You can keep putting lifelines in every 10 or so rows if you wanted to and had the contrasting thread/ yarn/ dental floss/w hatever to do it with.

This video explains a few different ways of putting in a lifeline. how to put in a lifeline in knitting.

The needles she is using are circular, meaning that both needles are joined together with a thinner strong cord. Some needles are interchangeable, meaning the cord can be removed from the needle and connected to differently sized needles from the same brand and set.

Sometimes, it's not worth the trouble to you to undo an added stitch because it might be just too hard to find where it is or whatever. In the case of an EXTRA stitch to your numbers, on the next row, simply knit 2 together to make 1 stitch and that will bring the numbers back inline again.

In the case of a lesser number where you have some how decreased a stitch, simple add an extra stitch. Usually it's best to do either of these things on the edge where it will be mostly hidden, rather than smackdab in the middle of a row, where it would be noticeable.

Just as a reminder too, here's the LoveKnitting how to knit lessons which might be good as a refresher for explanation now you are powering along with your stitches!

I am so very sorry I neglected to add these things earlier, Smiley Frustrated and hope you are going along well with whatever it is you are working on now!

If I have not been clear or you have any questions please ask, I may miss something because knitting is not my forte, but I know how to do the basics. Heart

Re: Craft Corner

Absolutely gorgeous @Former-Member. Such delicate work, I can imagine how detailed and intricate all the beadwork must look. Stunning shading and expression. You are amazingly skilled, how lovely to have the patience to do such work. Heart

So lovely to hear you're days are going so well! I will keep tagging you with inspiring things (unless I forget, which I sometimes do, or get weird and think people might not want to know, which I also sometimes do)

Waves to @outlander  you've reminded me I have to get another photo of somethings to show you!

@Shaz51 I know, wasnt' it fun, but we'd get into so much trouble for wasting the pencils if we got caught. One teacher went through the bins to check our pencil shavings. I thought that crochet pencil sharpener and shavings was just so cute. Metallic thread for the thing-that-shaves-the-wood {gosh these disallowed words and craft words are HARD to avoid} - how clever!!!!

@CheerBear @Teej I did chuckle to myself ... I read that as 'One Day Projects, as in it would take 1 day, had to reread to go AHHH, 'one day I might do these projects'. Eh, how the mind finds its own point of reference to facilitate meaning!

undefined Another pretty from teh Keitodama collection for you all.

I'm off to rock and crochet awhile before dinner. Happy evening to all.
