Life can be a Pain

Re: Life can be a Pain

Learning registers tomorrow @Owlunar

Hope it's not too hard.

Having pizza for dinner. Have a birthday cake for later. Yes time does fly quickly. I remember his birth quite vividly. He was the hardest!

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hi again @BlueBay

I don't know how things go at your supermarket - I shop at Woolworths and the people on the registers just swipe the items across the checkers and type in those things that are weighed and pack them. There's packing of course but I am sure you can manage that well - then handling payments which  is mostly by card now. Cash payments will be few

I am sure you will do well - I have every confidence in you

Tomorrow I will get a text to tell me what time to be at the hospital and my agency is providing a driver. I most likely won't have to wait long at this hospital - last time I was there I checked in - saw the anaeshetist and walked down with him to the theatre and it was line in and I was in the twilight with no pain at all. Then I have to wait until I get picked up and I go back to my daughter's place for dinner - she's cooking chicken pie. And I stay for the night

My daughter was so easy to give birth too. I have heard it said that if people have a tough pregnancy the birth can be easy - this couldn't always be true but it was for me. My daughter was in such a hurry to be born she nearly beat the doctor to it

How heavy was your son? My daughter was a month early - 6 pound - this would have to make it easier than a full-term birth

Re: Life can be a Pain

My son was 8lb 2 oz.  He was 2 weeks early (8 hour labour)  My daughter was 7lb 3oz and 3 weeks early (7 hour labour) and my youngest son was 8lb 15oz one week early and (2 hour labour).  We just got to hospital in time with him.  All three very different labours.

Yeah there's not much cash handlingn at registers nowadays.  In fact our self serve are cards only.

Re: Life can be a Pain

My dear @Owlunar  ... just a quick post to let you know I am thinking of you as you recover from your procedure and anaesthetic from yesterday.  I hope you are doing well and that your daughter is taking good care of you while you are there.  How was the chicken pie?  You were only planning on staying with your daughter one night, so I guess you will be heading home today sometime.  Are you sure you're ready?  I'm sure your daughter wouldnt mind you staying an extra night if you need to, and would probably enjoy having you a day longer.  🤗💞

Anyway ... I wont make this a long post, and dont want you to feel you have to respond.  I just wanted you to know I was thinking of you and wishing you well.

Leaving something for you ........ to brighten up your home when you return there.

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hello @Owlunar

I thought I'd drop by and see how you are going post your hospital procedure last Friday.

I know you were staying with your daughter on Friday after discharge from hospital. But I'm unsure if you got home on Saturday as planned.  You've been quiet so I dont know how you're going.  Hopefully really well and we will see you soon, back to your normal capacity once more.

You mentioned somewhere that you would be lining up for your COVID vaccine from this week as the stage 1b rollout commences.  I know you were keen to get the vaccine as soon as possible, so I hope you are able to get in fairly soon.  My GP runs our local town's respiratory clinic (set up for covid) and will be getting his supply from this week as well.  Unfortunately however, our town is completely isolated from floodwaters, and I am isolated from the town itself.  My GP clinic is near where there is severe water inundation from the floods, so I'm not even sure if he will be able to open this week at all.  Hoping floodwaters subside soon, for everyones sake.  Not the least me, because I will need fresh food in a few days time.  Plus hubby is stuck on the other side of the river, unable to get home from a weekend trip away with his friend.  I'm flooded in and he's flooded out.  Anyway, back to the covid vaccine ... I am also eligible for the vaccine at stage 1b ... not because I'm over 70, coz I'm not.  But because of underlying chronic illness, ie cancer.  So I expect I will be rocking up for my vaccination whenever I can do so.

Anyway, I'm just waffling now ... sorry about that.  Feeling a bit frazzled today.  Hope you are doing well Dec.

Hi Em

The Owl and the P ussy Cat - that is so cute - thanks for that picture

You are flooded in and your husband is flo oded out!! No wonder you feel frazzled. I have been watching the floods on TV - wondering how you are and also others that might be in the ares. My grand-daughter is on the Sunshine Coast which is getting some rain but nothing like Sydney and the west - the Hawksberry River I think - flo oded by the dam. Such graphic pictures - and it must be so scary - I hope you are well above the floods themselves and don't run out of food. I'll send up a prayer or three - it can't do any harm and might help.

Wow. What have we had? Fires, flood, COVID-19 and our individual issues - what a hard time it has been for the whole world.

I don't know when I will be able to get the vaccination - it depends on the roll-out of the vaccine here - things keep getting held up - and that's life I suppose. Obviously the system knows how to deal with mass-vaccination because we get the Fluvax every year but right now people are harrassing their clinics and this is unfair on the staff. People will be people - if other people are getting vaccinated then that's good by me - I can hold my breath for now - badly looking forward to seeing my grand-daughter again - but my daughter and her husband and I just have to wait. No way can my daughter travel yet.

I feel a lot better after my procedure. It all went well on Friday. A friend drove me down and picked me up. On the way we managed to get lost down on the Mornington Peninsula - a drive in the country was great - but not on our way to hospital. We can have fun remembering it though. I was able to ring the hospital to tell them I was on my way but would be late and it all went ahead as normal once I got there. The ablation has worked and the pain is so much less. I was so exhausted by the time I got it done - really worn-out. I was busy catching up on a few things over the weekend and today I have been rather tired but okay.

It was excellent seeing my daughter and her husband again - and I gave my daughter her birthday present - we both love that. Dinner was great, chicken pie with flaky pastry and roasted vegetables - that was wonderful. We all enjoyed dinner. Afterwards the football was on - I really couldn't hear the commentator because of the east wind and I was tired and kept falling asleep and had the best night's sleep I have had for a while.

I picked up my new reading glasses today - this will make a huge difference when I am reading in bed -

As far as that rain - we have had rain and humidity in Victoria - not too much though it was heavier in other parts of Melbourne. I hope the rain in NSW eases soon - I do wish you the best
