Welcome and getting started

Good morning!

Good morning!

Good morning to you!

It's Halloween - do you celebrate, or is it an American holiday to you?  If you do celebrate, what will you be doing?  For me, it means turning the porch light on so the local kids know they can come and trick or treat at my house.  I have the chocolate ready!

Today, I'm going to be grateful for my Mum and Dad.  They're in their 80's, and I know that I'm so lucky that they're still here and quite well.  Although, they both have the 'flu at the moment - I wish I lived closer so I could go visit and check they're ok.  Mum and Dad don't really understand my mental illness, but they've always expressed their love and pride in me, which has been really supportive in my life.  They have at times been very frustrated and not understood, but as we've all gotten older have been more tolerant.

I'm also grateful for these absolutely beautiful Spring days.  It's so lovely outside, the sun's shining and the birds are singing.  I'm so fortunate to live where I do and have so many opportunities offered to me.

What are 3 things you're grateful for today?  Whatever you're doing, enjoy yourself!

JRMum.

Re: Good morning!

When I used to hand out lollies, I would get the kids to answer a riddle or participate in a knock knock joke before giving them the lolly. For the ones who were too cool for school, I would surprise them with the 'all in chainmail never clinking' riddle from the hobbit (they never got it but their parents always did...).

Re: Good morning!

Morning @JRMum and @Gwynn !
I never used to like Halloween...always fobbed it off as an American thing. But I see how much fun kids have and I thought a few years ago, stop being such a party pooper and embrace it. So while I don't go all out, I do like to got to an event. On the weekend my daughter and I went to a Halloween Drag Show in our area. It was so much fun. She's 19 and we both share this love for RuPaul's drag race. We love it. Today I'll have to get some lollies so I can give them to any kids who come by. My area doesn't have a big group of kids come around but the odd trickle.

Today I'm grateful for old friends. I had an old school mate contact me the other day and it was so random but so great. He found me on FB and saw I had dogs similar to his. We were great friends at school but haven't seen each other for years. He now lives in France with his wife and son but will be back to visit next year so we organised to catch up.

Have a wonderful day to you both!

Re: Good morning!

Hi @JRMum

My kids are past the Halloween stage. We never did it when they were young. We live on a bit of land so have never gotten kids knocking at my door. I think they stick to houses close to each other. More lollies that way!

Re: Good morning!

Happy Halloween 🎃 @JRMum I got out into nature and loved it.

Glad things with your parents are getting better by the sounds of it. It's so important to have that support.

I'm grateful I was able to get outside today and check a local park for orchids

I'm also grateful for the time I spent with my friend today.

Lastly I am greatful for the SANE forums... what a great safe place to be.

Re: Good morning!

@JRMum I love Halloween! I'm dressed up, have decorated the house, and am handing out lollies to trick-or-treaters.

I'm grateful for the joy of Halloween, the cute reactions of the trick-or-treaters, and that the weather is cooperating!

Re: Good morning!

Oooooo I looovveee Halloween. It's the only holiday I actually like.

I had a Halloween party on Sunday. Made everyone dress up.

Also went to the supermarket in an elaborate costume today too when I did my weekly groceries.
