Re: Safe Now

Not every therapeutic idea is a good fit at all times  @Oaktree

sometimes I have felt better about a strategy years after I first heard of it.

I too have tried to leave self harm back in my past but the ideation can be really hard to shake. I also wouldn't be that comfortable with a protector figure although I get the intention.

Gently Bently... Except when it is not what you need... I could also howl at the moon with you if that was better....

Re: Safe Now

@Oaktree aww hun, makes sense you couldn't do what was being asked of you if you didn't feel safe!! That doesn't make you a failure at all!

Sorry that the sh urges have struck - but good on you for vocalising it here so you don't have to suffer in silence. I'm off for tonight but sending you soooo many hugs hun!! We got your back, 100% of the way through this rought patch don't you worry 😊💜

I would love to try howling at the moon with you! Or maybe we can go down to the beach and just scream at the top of our lungs? Your pick

Re: Safe Now

Re: Safe Now

Sorry @Oaktree I have not been on the forums in the last couple of days.

I am sorry you are feeling this way.

I also have to try every day to keep the past from my present day and often some "trigger" reminds me. Fortunately my reactions are now not quite as intense. Sometimes, though, I still do think about SH, or more I wish I wasn't here. So I am safe, but I just don't feel good about myself.

I am just wondering if you have DID with the protector figure idea, or whether it's internal family systems therapy, or even trauma rescripting. You are not a failure because a therapy idea does not "gel" with you, as you can see, from just the above, there are many different modes of psychotherapy.

Are you able to use the 5 senses (something you can see, hear, feel, taste, smell) in those moments?
