Relapse

Why is relapse so painful yet why is it so hard to get back on track once you've fallen down.

The last month has brought on both relapses with my eating disorder and self harm -both of which I considered myself to be in solid recovery from.

I feel disheartened on going backwards but i also feel like I need the behaviours to move forward (yeh doesnt make sense)

I don't know how to stop myself self harming especially. This week i have already needed medical attention twice and I'm craving more of the same.

Where do i go from here

Re: Relapse

Hi @The-red-centaurI think its important that you reach out for support - to link back in with health professionals. I'm not sure of what treatments you had the past but they say its best to seek treatment sooner rather than later...

Re: Relapse

Relapse is hard @The-red-centaur
But I think the first step is probably to take a step back and give yourself some room. Don't be too hard on yourself. Relapse happens.
I think it's best to book in with your specialists and raise it with them.

Re: Relapse

Hey there @The-red-centaur, thanks for updating us on what's been going on for you.

In terms of the self-harm, it sounds like an ongoing process of shifting the attention away from it, no doubt exhausting at times. It's really positive that your CM is aware. Do you need medical attention right now around the SH?

Re: Relapse

@The-red-centaur

Are there any other physical activities you can engage with ... that shift from self harm. I know someone who runs a lot and that helps them.

walking or working in nature??walking or working in nature??
