Not Coping

Re: Not Coping

I have my aunt, uncle and friend but I don't see them that much anymore @creative_writer

Yes I trust him.

I just wanted one so badly.

Re: Not Coping

Hi @Birdofparadise8

I absolutely can understand this yearning for a hug, it brings us all the nice feelings and then it makes sense when people say they 'never want to let go!'

I know this might sound a little silly, but I'm wondering if you're willing to give this a go...

Sometimes when I am craving a great big warm hug, I put my arms out in front of me.. and then I wrap them around my shoulders or torso and give myself a great big one! If you hold this for 20 seconds (at least), the oxytocin in our body lets us feel more calmer, relaxed and can boost our positivity.

Somedays, this is all I have access to, and I can do it from the comfort of my own home.. also feels nice to stretch a bit 😛 (because I am always WFH at my computer).

Hoping this may be a useful little trick until you can see your aunt, uncle and friend next 🙂

Warmest,
PizzaMondo

Re: Not Coping

Thanks @PizzaMondo

I have given that a go but I feel like I'm squiching my chest and my boobs too much.

I hate having a tight feeling around my ribs so I don't wear tight dresses. He didn't really offer other suggestions for a way to create a hug other than swimming which I can't do because of my self-harm scars.

Re: Not Coping

@Birdofparadise8 I need to re-colour it as my roots are showing.

Re: Not Coping

@Birdofparadise8, I think it would be good to discuss with him that you felt rejected during your next appointment

Re: Not Coping

Yes I probably should @creative_writer

We didn't talk about it for long. We did talk about rejection as a whole though.

I just had the volunteering thing it was nice to see what's going to happen. I'll meet up with an older person once a week.

Ah okay @ENKELI

Re: Not Coping

It's OK @Birdofparadise8 - thought I would share something from my toolkit!

If it is a little uncomfy, find that cosy spot, sometimes I even just place my hands under my armpits and squeeze my shoulders up to my neck, but it's OK if it's not doing the job right now. Glad you gave it a go 🙂

I'm wondering if you've ever used a weighted blanket, or wrapped yourself up like a burrito - my little shark squishmallow named Gordon sometimes provides me with warmth too 🙂

Warmest,
PizzaMondo

Re: Not Coping

I borrowed my aunts weighted blanket but again I didn't like the weight on my chest. I can't handle a lot of pressure or it feels like I'm suffocating.

I do have a teddy that I cuddle sometimes which is nice. Even that gives a little comfort to me hugging something else.

What is a squichmallow? @PizzaMondo

Re: Not Coping

The teddy cuddle idea is fab @Birdofparadise8 ! That is what I was referring to with the squishmallow... I am sure you've seen these cute colourful plushies around!
