@Former-MemberHi SunShower I bought 5 bundles of the yarn I thought that would be enough in case I made a mistake. Gosh you are knowledgablel I had no idea about these differing yarns .... (I wont forget what you said about them thanks for the heads up on the fagility of roving yards).... gable stitches.... etc. So much to learn but that is great. I saw a beautiful dusty pink woolen coat today in Myers and I thought one day I will be able to knit myself such a coat. It was such a pretty colour pink.

@Bunniekins OH great that you got enough yarn for some extras. Way to go.
Re stitches: Garter stitch is the just keeping knitting stitch.
CABLE is different entirely. Oh my, as lovely as it looks, not something to start on. I confess to never having been able to make cable knitting work!
Good on you for seeing that coat and thinking 'one day'! That's creativity at work!
I really like dusty pink myself, have some yarns in it ... making long and large garments is where the chunky yarns can come in really handy too.
Also, forgot to say I'm not doing too badly today, thank you for asking. Also how are you going? and you son? Hope all is travelling nicely.
That roving yarn makes me so angry, really inordinately angry, because if a person doesn't know and makes something really big and lovely and special and wears it as it's meant to be worn, and then has to wash and dry it - it's ruined depending entirely on the type of garment and level of care known to be taken. Just another rort to get money for a product without proper advice going with it. I am not sure why it makes me so, so, so very angry!

Ooooh @Former-Member @Former-Member It would blind me trying to do that tatting or the embroidery.
So beautiful.
Yes often we need to accept that monetary or market value is not the main game.
I am almost finished reading Tulipomania about the dutch experiment in breeding varieties and ensuing hysteria and boom and bust.

The Tulip 'thing' was amazing, I remember reading a bit about it some time ago, fascinating. I may try to find that book. @Appleblossom Thank you for sharing.
Must be off to shower and do something else that I have forgotten what it is ....

@Former-Member Hi SunShower how are you going today? I have some news my daughter is picking up my package from the post office today with the yarn and needles in it! I am very excited about it 😄 Once I start you wont hear from me much as I tend to get very fixated in what I am doing. I will keep you posted with pics so that you can tell me if you can see a potential problem arising from my novice knitting 🙂

Wonderful news indeed @Bunniekins Not having the best day, but not as bad as it could be, thank you for asking. How about you, Pea? How's your day. Excited cos of loot coming in the mail, of course.
And definately tag me with any queries you have or achievements you want to brag about too.
I know what you mean about focusing on one thing, I'll be moving into that this week myself as I have some new projects to work on handed to me today. Exciting writing to do!
I have been working on the tatting onto the handkerchief and it's going slowly, but well. The thread I'm using is Cebelia #30, first time I've used it for anything.
It might be good for crochet, but it's truly awful for tatting.I"m really sorry I started with it. It's splitting on the shuttle thread so the intricate design I'd planned won't be happening. I have another hankie I will do that on so not to worry.
How is everyone going? (((( Craft Hugs )))) for whoever could do with them.

@Former-Member I could always do with a hug thanks SunShower 🙂 Sorry you are not having such a great day that is not good. Was feeling rather bleak myself this morning I don't know why .... but have perked up a bit now. My daughter forgot to pick up the loot but never mind she promised tomorrow that she would ... I cannot get upset with her because she is doing me a favour getting it for me.
I love the way you have taught yourself tatting, it is so beautifully delicate. Would make gorgeous bridal wear as in around the collar and head pieces etc. I hope you pick up a bit more as the afternoon wears on,

Hehe, maybe you could bribe her to go back and get it or on the other hand, you could look at it this way @Bunniekins you've got another day to do whatever chores or preparations you can get sorted ahead of time so you can JUST KNIT all day when she gets it to you tomorrow.
thankyou for your kind thoughts, i hope you feel a bit brighter soon too. Now I know what caused it (time of year when heaps of the proverbial hit the multiple fans around the place) I'm coping better.
It'll probably be a bit up and down for a couple of months, but I'll be better able to work it through now I realise the timing thing.
I'll post an image of the hankie when I finish this first row of edging and get an opinion on whether to do more or to leave it where it is. The inspiration for doing it came from looking at lace edgings on Latter Day Saints (LDS) Temple handkerchiefs. I fell over the website looking as tatting edgings and OH MY there ae some glorious lace work pieces!
This is the image from LDS Lacemaker
The LDS lacework is so very inspiring.

Hi crafters,
I'm just dropping by to let you know I am diligently working on my next project. I super can't wait to show you when it is done...which may be a little while. I am LOVING my new crocheting adventure - thank you again @Former-Member and @CheerBear for teaching me. I took Mr Narwhal and Mr Turtle to visit TTT on Monday. She was suitably impressed and encouraging.
By the way, do you want to know a secret? @Former-Member I have been reading along with your posts regarding sewing machines and I've been thinking about how much fun learning to sew would be. However, I'm telling myself that I need to focus on one thing at a time and crocheting is the thing for now. But down the track...
