Self care by growing a garden

Re: Self care by growing a garden

@SmcI feeling for hour frustration regarding the loader incident.

I've only got a really small back yard. An half of hour of weeding and they'll all be gone. I'm enjoying them for what they are. I believe they have medicinal uses.

@eudemonism, 'Twas @Determined who got the unco-operative tradie unloading out the front of his house, not me, but I'm sure he appreciates your empathy.

Got a bit done outside myself today before the rain settled in. Last trip to my parents' house included removing some plants we wanted, so I've been planting irises in pots, and asparagus crowns in the garden.

@Determinedwhat do ya do about the daily negatives life has to offer?

@eudemonism I just manage them the best I can and when it all gets too much I slip into some sort of auto pilot and just do what I can.

Trying hard not to be so reactive at the moment. Also trying to work on some self care strategies to enable me to keep on top of things.

Have a long way to go but I am a long way from where I was this time last year so counting my blessings often helps.

Don't it feel good to get something planted @Smc

Re: Self care by growing a garden

@Former-Member, it does. 🙂

Chookie girl and the bunnies and guinea pigs appreciate me getting out there too. They're more likely to get a feed of freshly pulled weeds.

Re: Self care by growing a garden

I have been contemplating digging out and potting a rose Bush I bought when Darling and I were first dating as a budget way (I was  a student and broke at the time) being romantic.

It has been in the ground in its current location for almost 18 years so dont want it to expire from the move.

Before planting it where it is now in it was in a pot. (Due to being in rental accomodation).

I used to have 2 but one died a couple.of years ago when we had a wet spell.

Looking a bit ordinary now but what can I say, I'm a big softie and too sentimental lol

Re: Self care by growing a garden

A lovely idea @Determined - winter the ideal time to transplant roses.  I think you might need to prune it back a bit and have a good size pot - perhaps use z premium potting mix too.

@Adgemy latest addition to the garden. 3X blue borage seedlings. Somehow one popped up a few years back. And I've been in love with them ever since. I'm hoping to get them self seeding and returning each year. - they are annuals...  Apparently there's an old wives tale that goes with the blue borage plant. 😀 hoping and praying they turn into wonderful specimens. You can even get blue borage honey. - the bees Love them! Yippee. A good rain is what they need right now. Fingers crossed.

Perhaps a row of rocks or other edging will help retain the soil around your tree @eudemonism
